Plugin documentation

The SEOStrive plugin, start to finish

Every screen and setting explained, and what is Free and what needs Pro.

Download v2.5.7 What’s new

Install and activate

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip and press Install Now, then Activate.
  2. The setup wizard opens by itself the first time. You can skip it and run it later from the menu.
  3. Everything marked Free works straight away. No account and no licence key are needed.
  4. To unlock Pro, activate a licence key (see Licence and Pro).

Needs WordPress 5.8 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.

Setup wizard

A full-screen popup with five short steps. Every step is optional and you can change all of it later.

  1. Site type. Choose from 18 types such as personal blog, news, local business, online store, nonprofit, school, government, healthcare, restaurant and more. This sets your organisation type and the default schema for posts.
  2. Who you are. Name, website address and logo.
  3. Social profiles. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, Telegram, Snapchat, Reddit, GitHub and WhatsApp. Paste a link or an @handle.
  4. Search basics. XML sitemap, structured data, and hiding thin tag and date archives.
  5. Search engines. Verification codes for Google, Bing, Yandex, Baidu, Naver, Seznam and Pinterest.

Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia use Bing’s index, so verifying with Bing covers them.

WordPress shows one SEOStrive entry. Inside, a left-hand menu groups every screen: Dashboard, Titles and meta, Schema, Sitemaps, Image SEO, Local SEO, Redirections, Link report, Analytics, Email reports, Site audit, SEO tools, AI assistant, Import and export, and Licence. Screens load in place, so the page does not reload as you move around. Pro screens show a small Pro badge.

The dashboard shows your average SEO score, links and 404 counts, content health and a setup checklist.

Titles and meta

Titles and meta holds the templates for every kind of page. Use variables and they fill in automatically:

%title% %sitename% %tagline% %sep% %excerpt% %category% %name% %term% %search% %year%

  • Indexing: keep tag, date, author and search archives out of search, and password-protected pages are noindexed.
  • Social sharing: a default share image, Twitter card type, X username and Facebook app ID.
  • Verification and tracking: paste only the content value of each engine’s meta tag, and an optional GA4 measurement ID. The GA4 tag skips logged-in editors.

The SEOStrive box

Open any post or page and scroll to the SEOStrive box.

  • General: SEO title, description, focus keyword and canonical URL, with a live Google preview and a score.
  • Social: your own Open Graph and Twitter title, description and image.
  • Advanced: noindex and nofollow for this page.
  • Schema: choose the type, add more, or paste your own JSON-LD (Pro for extra types).

The score is out of 100. 80 and above is good, 50 to 79 needs work, below 50 is poor. Pro adds checks for readability, keyword density, media and link balance. If you have AI set up, buttons suggest a title and description for you.

Schema

Schema is structured data that helps search engines understand your site. Under Schema you set what the site represents (a person or an organisation, with subtypes such as nonprofit, news publisher, local business, school and more), your name, logo and social profiles, and a default type for posts and pages.

Free covers the core types: Article, BlogPosting, WebPage, FAQ, Organisation, Person, Breadcrumb and WebSite. Pro adds 25+ types (Product, Recipe, Event, Course, HowTo, Video, Dataset, Fact Check, Podcast, Carousel, Job and more), several schemas per page, a custom JSON-LD builder, importing markup from any URL, Speakable, Mentions and About, and automatic video detection.

Always test important pages with Google’s Rich Results Test after you change schema.

Sitemaps

Your sitemap lives at /sitemap_index.xml on your site. Choose which post types and taxonomies it includes, and whether to list images. Submit it in each search engine’s webmaster tools. Pro adds a Google News sitemap and a video sitemap.

If the sitemap shows a 404, open Settings → Permalinks in WordPress and press Save once.

Redirections and 404

Create 301, 302, 307, 410 (gone) and 451 redirects, and see every 404 that visitors hit, with how often. Turn a 404 into a redirect in one click. Pro adds regex rules, automatic redirects when you change a slug, and CSV import and export.

  1. Open Link report and press Scan my links. It reads the links in your content.
  2. See internal and external links per post, and orphan pages that no other post links to.
  3. Press Check for broken links. Free checks 50 links per run, Pro has no cap.

Orphan detection looks at links inside post content, so pages linked only from menus or widgets can still show as orphans. Pro includes AI internal linking, which suggests links to add using your own Gemini key.

Image SEO

Set templates that fill missing alt text and titles using the post title and your site name. Pro adds bulk find and replace for alt, title and caption, and automatic captions.

Local SEO and WooCommerce

Add your business details and opening hours and the plugin outputs local business schema. Pro supports unlimited locations with a shortcode. With WooCommerce active, Pro adds richer product schema and Open Graph product tags.

AI assistant

The AI features use your own Google Gemini key, so you control the cost and nothing is shared with us.

  1. Create a free key in Google AI Studio.
  2. Open AI assistant in the plugin, paste the key and save.
  3. Use the AI buttons in the SEOStrive box, or the AI screen for keyword ideas, outlines and more.

The key is stored on your site and requests go from your site to Google. Google’s own usage limits and terms apply. Free includes 10 AI requests a day from the plugin. Pro has no cap from the plugin and adds FAQ schema, alt text and outlines.

Search Console and GA4

Pro can show clicks, impressions, positions and sessions, track keyword rankings, count visits from AI search, and check index status and PageSpeed per post. To connect, you create a Google service account:

  1. In Google Cloud Console, create a project and a service account, then create a JSON key for it.
  2. Enable the Search Console API and the Google Analytics Data API for the project (and the PageSpeed API if you want per-post scores).
  3. Add the service account’s email as a user on your Search Console property and on your GA4 property.
  4. In the plugin, open Analytics, paste the JSON key and your property details, then press Fetch latest data.

Google changes its console now and then, so labels may differ slightly. The key stays on your site. You can remove it any time.

Email reports

Pro sends a scheduled summary of clicks, impressions, winners and losers to the addresses you choose. With a licence that includes white label, reports and the plugin menu can carry your own brand name and logo.

Import and export

  • Import from Yoast, Rank Math or AIOSEO: brings over titles, descriptions and focus keywords.
  • CSV (Pro): export your SEO data, edit it in a spreadsheet and import it back.
  • Settings: export and import plugin settings to move between sites. Secrets such as API keys are never included.

Site audit and SEO tools

These screens run the same crawler and tools as this website, from inside WordPress. They need an active licence key and a site the internet can reach, so they will not work on a local or password-protected staging site. Your usage counts against your plan, the same as on the website.

Licence and Pro

  1. Sign in to your account on this site and copy your licence key.
  2. In WordPress open SEOStrive → Licence, paste the key and press Activate.
  3. The plugin shows Pro features unlocked. Your plan decides how many sites one key can activate.
  4. To move a licence, press Deactivate on the old site first. You can also regenerate the key under Account.

If a licence ends, Pro features lock again. Your settings and data stay in place, and everything in Free keeps working. See plans.

Troubleshooting

The sitemap or a redirect gives a 404

Go to Settings → Permalinks in WordPress and press Save to refresh the rules.

My title looks different in Google

Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions. Keep the title under about 60 characters and the description under about 160, and give it time to recrawl.

Two SEO plugins are active

Use only one, or you will get duplicate tags. Import from the other, then deactivate it.

The licence will not activate

Check the key has no extra spaces, your plan still has free site slots, and your server can reach seostrive.com over HTTPS.

Analytics shows nothing

Check the service account email was added to both properties, the APIs are enabled, then press Fetch latest data. Data can take a day to appear.

Uninstalling

Deleting the plugin removes your licence and its scheduled task. Your SEO settings and post data stay in the database, so reinstalling picks up where you left off.
