What the site audit checks
The audit crawls your website the way a search engine does. It reads your sitemap and links, opens every page it finds, and checks each one against more than 25 rules grouped into five areas: technical health, on-page SEO, content, performance, and markup and social.
Errors, warnings and notices
Errors are problems that actively hold pages back, such as broken pages, missing titles or a missing mobile viewport. Fix these first. Warnings cost you clicks or rankings over time, such as short descriptions or thin content. Notices are improvements worth making when you have time.
How the health score works
Every page starts at 100 and loses points for each problem, weighted by how much that problem matters. The site health score is the average page score, reduced by site-wide problems such as missing HTTPS or a missing sitemap. A score above 80 is healthy, 50 to 80 needs work, and below 50 needs urgent attention.
How to use your report
- Open the Issues tab and start at the top. Issues are sorted by severity and then by how many pages they affect.
- Click an issue to see why it matters, how to fix it and every affected page.
- Fix the issue on your site, then run the audit again. With a paid plan the report shows what you fixed and what is new since last time.
- Save the site as a project to have the audit run for you daily, weekly or monthly and emailed to you.
What we crawl
We start at your homepage, read robots.txt and your XML sitemap, and crawl the pages listed there. If no sitemap exists we follow the links on your homepage. We identify ourselves as SEOStriveBot and only fetch public pages. We never log in to your site or submit forms.
