Why meta tags matter
The title tag and meta description are your advert in search results. A clear title and a description that earns the click can lift traffic without changing your rankings. Open Graph and X (Twitter) tags decide how your page looks when someone shares it.
What this checker reviews
- Title tag: present, and 30 to 60 characters so it is not cut off.
- Meta description: present, and 120 to 160 characters.
- H1: exactly one.
- Canonical URL: tells search engines which address is the main one.
- Robots meta: warns if the page is set to noindex.
- Language and viewport: needed for accessibility and mobile-first indexing.
- Open Graph and Twitter cards: social previews.
- Favicon: shown next to your result on mobile.
Writing a good title
Lead with the main topic, add the benefit and put your brand at the end. Avoid stuffing keywords and avoid using the same title on several pages.
Writing a good description
Say what the page offers, who it is for and why to click. Descriptions are not a direct ranking factor but they strongly affect click-through rate.
